SHOW HISTORY

HERE AND THEIR was originally developed as a part of The 5th Avenue Theatre's First Draft Program in 2018-2019.

With support from NAMT grants, HERE AND THEIR was workshopped at the Seattle Repertory Theatre in 2020, had a virtual reading in 2021, and an in-person workshop in July 2022.

In August 2022, the writers continued to develop the show at the Rhinebeck Writers Retreat.

The writers participated in the Goodspeed Musicals' Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Grove in February 2023.

HERE AND THEIR was a semi-finalist for the O’Neill Musical Theatre Conference (2023), a finalist for the Richard Rodgers Award (2023), and the writers were finalists for the Jonathan Larson Grant (2023).

We are BEYOND excited to bring this show fully to life in June 2025!

  • July 2018

    Jasmine Joshua, Alexei Cifrese, and Heather Ragusa submit a pitch to the 5th Avenue Theatre’s inaugural First Draft Program.

  • September 2018

    We are invited to pitch our idea at the 5th Avenue’s Story Summit! We are one of eight teams selected out of over 100 national submissions.

  • October 2019

    HERE AND THEIR receives its first 29-hour workshop at Open Jar Studios in New York City. The workshop was directed by Hunter Bird with music direction by Matt Hinkley.

  • December 2020

    Seattle Repertory Theatre with help from a NAMT grant produces a (freaking glorious) writers’ retreat with Desdemona Chiang as director.

  • January 2021

    HERE AND THEIR receives a workshop at the Seattle Rep, directed by Desdemona Chiang with music direction by Matt Hinkley.

  • February 2022

    We record some kick ass demos at Captain’s Quarters Studio in Ventura, CA!

  • July 2022

    We head to the Rhinebeck Writers Retreat!

  • February 2023

    We’re headicut to Connecticut! What an honor to be included in Goodspeed Musical’s 11th Annual Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Grove!
